## Selling in Baghdad: two banks and distant neighbourhoods

Baghdad is the capital of Iraq, and the Tigris divides it into two sides, Karkh and Rusafa. Its neighbourhoods stretch over long distances, from central districts such as Karrada and Mansour to outer ones such as Taji, Al-Tarmiya and Mahmudiyah, so the name Baghdad alone does not mean one distance. The capital also borders five governorates, Al Anbar, Salah al-Din, Diyala, Wasit and Babil, and delivery to them may cost less than delivery to far ones. So give each part its own fee instead of one figure for the whole city.

## Delivery fees to Baghdad: how to set them by area

Start with a base fee for Baghdad, say IQD 5,000 as an example, then adjust it by part of the city. You do not need to price every area on its own: think of the city as rings, the districts near your warehouse, the rest of the city, then the outskirts. If your warehouse is in the centre, Karrada and Mansour are close to it, while Taji and Mahmudiyah mean a longer trip and justify a higher fee. If your delivery company charges by zone, mirror its zones in your fees. If your parcels are large or heavy, build that into the fee. The figure is illustrative, and you agree the company's price with the company itself.

## An example delivery fee setup for Baghdad

This is an illustrative example with numbers of our own, not any delivery company's price. We start with a general governorate fee of IQD 5,000, then adjust two areas.

| Area | Delivery fee (example) |
| --- | --- |
| All areas of Baghdad | IQD 5,000 |
| 9 Nissan (close to your warehouse) | IQD 3,000 |
| Zayouna (far from your warehouse) | IQD 7,000 |

The numbers are for illustration only. You change them in your delivery settings, and the real fee is your decision.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can I price Karkh and Rusafa differently?**

Yes. Every area in Baghdad's list has its own fee in Madar, including Karkh, Rusafa, Karrada and Mansour, and the list also holds main streets such as Al-Rasheed Street and Saadoun Street. Set a general fee for the city, then adjust whatever differs, whether a side, a district or a street.

**How do I sell from Baghdad to the other governorates?**

Your Madar store is not limited to one governorate: an order can arrive from any of them, and you set the delivery fee by the shopper's governorate and area. As an illustration, Baghdad might be IQD 5,000 and the other governorates IQD 5,000. These figures are examples only, not any delivery company's price, and you can change both whenever your costs change.

**Does Madar deliver orders in Baghdad?**

No. Madar does not deliver orders itself. On Pro you link your account with Al-Waseet, Modon Express or Hi Express and send the order with one tap; with any other company you hand the order over yourself. It organises the order, the delivery fee and the order status, so an order moves through statuses such as Out for delivery and Delivery failed, which you record, and you hand it to the company you work with in Baghdad. You keep a list of those companies in Madar so you know which one to choose.
