## Selling in Erbil: the regional capital and its neighbours

Erbil is the capital of the Kurdistan Region, and around its historic citadel at the heart of the city grow many neighbourhoods and suburbs. It borders Nineveh, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk. If you sell from Erbil, your store takes orders from any governorate, and the fee to its neighbours may be lower than to far governorates, so give each governorate its own figure. If you sell to Erbil from another governorate, ask your delivery company whether it covers Erbil and its outskirts before you settle your fee and promise the shopper a date.

## Delivery fees to Erbil: city centre and outskirts

Erbil covers the city centre, its suburbs and towns far from it, so one figure does not fit all. Give the neighbourhoods near the centre, such as Erbil Citadel and Ankawa, a base fee, say IQD 8,000 as an example, then raise it for Shaqlawa, a mountain town away from the city. If your warehouse is in another governorate, count the road to Erbil first, then add the difference in distance inside it. If your parcels are heavy, build that into the fee, which does not vary with weight. What you enter is your store's fee and you agree the company's price with the company itself, since Madar is not a delivery company.

## An example delivery fee setup for Erbil

This is an illustrative example with numbers of our own, not any delivery company's price. We start with a general governorate fee of IQD 8,000, then adjust two areas.

| Area | Delivery fee (example) |
| --- | --- |
| All areas of Erbil | IQD 8,000 |
| 11 March (close to your warehouse) | IQD 6,000 |
| Zanko 2 (far from your warehouse) | IQD 10,000 |

The numbers are for illustration only. You change them in your delivery settings, and the real fee is your decision.

## Frequently asked questions

**How do I price delivery to Shaqlawa compared with central Erbil?**

Shaqlawa's fee in Madar is set on its own, apart from Erbil Citadel and Ankawa, because every area of Erbil has its own fee. Make Shaqlawa higher if it is farther from your warehouse, and let the difference follow the distance, since Madar does not impose a fixed figure. The fee is one figure per area and does not change with parcel size. You can change any fee whenever you like.

**Which languages does my store use for Erbil shoppers?**

Stores in Madar work in Arabic and English, and you choose both languages or one of them for your store. The rest of the setup, including a delivery fee for each area of Erbil, works the same way in every governorate.

**Can I sell from Erbil to Baghdad and Basra?**

Yes. You can sell from Erbil to any governorate in Iraq, including Baghdad and Basra, which are farther from Erbil than Duhok and Sulaymaniyah are. Set a fee for each governorate in Madar, raise the fee for the farther ones if your cost is higher, and ask your delivery company whether it covers the route before you promise the shopper anything.
