Where to delete your account
Any merchant with a Madar account, store owner or staff member, can delete it. You need your password, so you delete the account after signing in, in one of two places:
- The merchant app
- Open the "More" tab, then the "Account" section, then "Delete account". Read what will happen, then type your password and confirm.
- The dashboard
- From the menu open "Settings", then the "Account" tab, then press "Delete my account". Read what will happen, then type your password and confirm.
The dashboard's account tab is at https://app.madar.iq/settings/account. If you are signed out, the page asks you to sign in and then brings you back to it. If you forgot your password, reset it first from the sign-in page.
What happens at once
The moment you confirm the deletion:
- Your account stops, and you are signed out on every device.
- Your stores stop, if you own any (the stores section below has the details).
- No message reaches your account after that: no app notifications, no WhatsApp, no Telegram, no email.
- Your phone number stays reserved for your account during the whole period, so nobody can sign up with it again.
How to cancel the deletion
You have 30 days. Sign in with your password, from the app or the dashboard, and the deletion is cancelled and your account is back as it was. The stores that the deletion request stopped open again. If you forgot your password, reset it as usual and then sign in with it. A try with a wrong password changes nothing.
What is erased after 30 days
When the period ends, the system erases your personal data by itself:
- Your name, phone number, password and last sign-in date. The account stays under the name "Deleted account" and your number is replaced by a random code, so your number is free and can be used to sign up again.
- Your membership in every store you belonged to.
- Your notification devices, the Telegram, WhatsApp and email addresses added for alerts, and your notification settings.
- Your notifications, what you read of the announcements and your daily activity record.
- The sign-in sessions saved for your account.
Backups taken before the erasure keep a copy of the data until each backup expires. If a backup is restored, the erasures are done on it again.
What other companies hold (WhatsApp and Meta, Telegram, email providers, Cloudflare and the app stores) is not in Madar's systems and is not erased by this.
What is kept, and why
Some records are not yours alone: they belong to the store and to the platform, so they stay. Your personal details are taken out of them wherever the records do not need them.
- Orders, invoices, payments, stock movements and subscription history
What happens to it: They stay as they are, and refer to you by an anonymous number, never by your name or phone.
Why: Business and accounting records of the store and of Madar.
- The activity log (what happened in the store, and when)
What happens to it: It stays, with the network address and device details wiped.
Why: It is the record of what happened in the store, and the records do not need the network address.
- Your store's customers and their orders
What happens to it: They stay.
Why: They are the customers' data held by the store, and their rights are exercised with the store.
- Support tickets and their messages
What happens to it: They stay, and their author shows as "Deleted account".
Why: They are the support history of the store and of the platform.
- WhatsApp message records and delivery failures
What happens to it: They stay once their link to you and the last four digits of your phone are removed.
Why: They are the platform's billing and delivery records.
- The deletion request itself
What happens to it: It stays as a log entry: which account, when it was asked, when it was due, whether it was cancelled or completed, and the stores it stopped.
Why: Proof that the request was recorded and carried out. It holds none of your personal data.
What happens to your stores
If you own a store, it stops the moment you confirm the deletion, like any suspension: your customers see that it is unavailable, and your team sees the suspended-store screen with the reason that it was closed at its owner's request.
The store's data is kept: products, orders, customers and invoices. It is not deleted with the account because it holds other people's data and records that must be kept.
If you cancel the deletion, the store works again. Only a store that your deletion request stopped comes back this way, never a store that Madar's team suspended for another reason.
When the erasure completes, the contact details you wrote for your stores (the store's phone, WhatsApp number and email) are wiped. The store stays suspended with an unknown owner, and its data is kept for now with no date set for deleting it.
If you are a staff member in a store someone else owns, only your membership is deleted. The store and its orders stay with its owner and are not affected.
What to settle before you delete
The account of a store owner cannot be deleted while one of the stores has any of these. The screen lists them before it asks for your password, and nothing changes while the deletion is refused:
- An active paid plan, or one that is overdue within its grace days
What to do: A plan does not renew by itself. Let it end and its grace days pass, or ask Madar support to cancel it and move the store to someone else.
- An unpaid subscription invoice
What to do: Pay it, or ask support to void it.
- Orders in progress: New, Preparing, Ready, Out for delivery, Delivery failed
What to do: Finish them or cancel them.
A free trial does not stop the deletion: an account made today can be deleted today. Neither does a plan that has ended or been cancelled. You reach support from the "Support" section of the dashboard.
