WhatsApp messages for your shoppers, order alerts for you

WhatsApp order notifications in Madar are of two kinds: WhatsApp messages to shoppers about their orders, and alerts to the merchant on WhatsApp and Telegram when a new order arrives. Shoppers get a message when an order is confirmed, goes out for delivery, is delivered or fails delivery. These shopper messages are on by default, and each store can switch them off.

What Madar sends, and to whom

  • Order confirmation on WhatsApp

When a shopper places an order, Madar sends a WhatsApp message to say it was recorded. They know the order reached you, so they have less reason to message you and check.

  • Messages when it goes out, arrives or fails

Madar sends a message when the order goes out for delivery, another when it is delivered and another if delivery fails. Shoppers follow the order on WhatsApp and rarely need to call you.

  • On by default, and you can switch them off

Shopper messages need no setup: every store has them on from the start. If you prefer to talk to your customers yourself, switch them off in your store settings.

  • New-order alerts on WhatsApp and Telegram

Once you verify your WhatsApp number, new-order alerts reach you there, even when you are away from the dashboard. You can get them on Telegram too, and merchant app notifications will join them when the app launches. It is coming soon and not published yet.

When does Madar send each message?

  1. The shopper confirms their order

A shopper orders from your store, so Madar sends the confirmation on WhatsApp, and the new-order alert reaches you on the channels you switched on.

  2. You change the order status

When you move the order to Out for delivery, Madar tells the shopper. When you mark it Completed after handing it over, Madar sends the delivered message.

  3. You record a failed delivery

If the shopper did not collect the order, mark it Delivery failed, and Madar sends them a message to say so.

Before you rely on it

  • Madar sends the message, but arrival depends on the shopper's number, their WhatsApp account and their connection, and Madar does not promise that every message arrives. To confirm an address or a time, contact the shopper directly.
  • Messages follow the status you set. Madar does not deliver orders: you hand the order to the company you work with and change its status to Out for delivery, or the status changes by itself when you sent the order through a company you linked on Pro. Only then is the Out for delivery message sent.
  • Shopper messages and merchant alerts work on the Basic plan as well as Pro, so you do not need to upgrade to use them.

Questions about WhatsApp notifications

Do my shoppers get an order confirmation on WhatsApp automatically, and can I switch it off?

Yes. Madar sends your shopper a WhatsApp confirmation when the order is placed, then a message when it goes out for delivery, is delivered or fails delivery. These messages are on by default for every store, and you switch them off in your store settings. Switching them off does not stop your own alerts on WhatsApp and Telegram.

How do I receive merchant alerts on WhatsApp and Telegram?

Merchant alerts in Madar reach you on WhatsApp after you verify your number, and on Telegram if you prefer. They will also arrive as notifications in the merchant app, which is coming soon and not published yet.

Does every WhatsApp message always reach the shopper?

No. Madar cannot promise that every WhatsApp message reaches the shopper. It sends the message to the shopper's number, but arrival depends on a correct number, a WhatsApp account and a connection. Check the number in the order, and call the shopper when it matters.
