An online store for home goods, with delivery priced for every area

Madar lets you run an online store for home goods, with tidy categories for kitchenware, small furniture and decor. You choose a delivery fee for each governorate and area, and your customer sees the full total with delivery before confirming, then pays it on delivery.

What a home goods store needs

  • Bulky parcels and a clear delivery feeLarge pots and small furniture are heavier and harder to carry, and delivery costs differ from one area to another. You need a fee that covers it and that your customer knows before ordering.

  • Stock split between the shop and the warehouseSome home goods stay in the shop and some in a warehouse. You need to know what is where, and to record a shipment of many different items in one go.

  • Many product types need clear categoriesA kitchenware and home decor store sells frying pans, plates, bed covers and baskets together, so it needs categories and brands that lead the shopper to what they want.

  • A clear record when an item arrives brokenGlass and ceramics can arrive broken, and a customer may not be home to receive a large parcel. You need to record what happened on the order itself.

How Madar serves your home goods store

  • A delivery fee for each governorate and each area

Set a delivery fee for each of the 19 governorates, and give any of the 683 areas its own fee when needed. The fee follows the area, not the weight of the parcel, so build a large parcel's cost into it. A delivery company you work with does the transport, because Madar does not deliver orders.

  • A warehouse for the shop and one for large goods

You create one warehouse for the shop and another for large goods, and see the quantity of every item in each. When a shipment with many different items arrives, you record what arrived of each item in the warehouse that received it.

  • Categories and brands for every type of item

Create a category for each type, such as kitchenware, storage, decor and bed covers, and add a brand to every product. If an item comes in several colours or sizes, set its options.

  • Failed delivery, returns and an invoice for every order

You follow every order through nine statuses. You record Delivery failed if the shopper does not receive the parcel, and Returned or Partially returned if something comes back, and you print the invoice on A4 paper or a thermal printer.

Illustrative example: a kitchenware and decor store

You keep large pots in a warehouse and small items in the shop. Baghdad's delivery fee is IQD 5,000 and every other governorate's is IQD 8,000, and you raise the fee for a distant area to cover a large parcel. If one item in an order arrives broken, you record a partial return. The numbers here are for illustration only.

Questions from home goods sellers

How do I set the delivery fee for large items by governorate and area?

Madar lets you set a fee per governorate and a different fee for any area that needs one. The fee does not change with the weight or size of the parcel, so include the cost of a large parcel in it. You agree the transport price with your delivery company, because Madar does not deliver orders.

Does my customer see the full total with delivery before ordering?

Yes. A shopper on a Madar store chooses their governorate and area, and the delivery fee you set for it is added to the price of the items before they confirm the order. They then pay that total on delivery, which is the only way shoppers pay.

What should I do if part of an order arrives broken?

When part of an order arrives broken, you record in Madar a partial return on the same order if the customer sends back only the damaged items, or a full return if the whole order comes back. If the shopper never received the parcel, record Delivery failed instead. Compensation is between you and your customer.
